Luke 22:28-30 Childlike Faith

AUDIO Luke 22:28-30 07/22/2025 Lord our God, we thank you that we may be your children and that we may hope in your Spirit.  Your Spirit rules us as people whom you want to draw to yourself, as people who may serve you in their lives here on earth. Grant that we may be childlike so that your Spirit can rule us more and more, and that what is good may come to many people in all places. May many come to know that their lives are not merely temporal, but that they can live and act in you, and through you, experience the good that is to come to all nations on earth. Amen. So, more on being childlike refers to having a sense of wonder, trust, and simplicity in faith. Jesus taught that one must approach God with the innocence and openness of a child to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. This attitude encourages confidence in God's provision and a grateful heart for all that one receives. Of course, children are easily fooled and led astray. In their artlessness, they tend to ...

God Is Good & Faith

AUDIO Most of us have at some point brought our supplication to Jesus vigorously but did not see the desired results. Unfortunately, humans are, by nature, fainthearted. We get weary of asking and listening when all we perceive is silence. Remember, though, that God is not some “cosmic bellhop”; He does not act on our cue. In fact, if we could see the big picture as He can, we would gladly wait for His way and time. Maybe you’re going through a fiery trial right now. God allows different kinds of trials in our lives. He tests us to develop our faith. The Devil, on the other hand, tempts us to destroy our faith. I bring this up because sometimes people will have something bad happen in their lives and then say, “You know what? I just lost my faith.” Good. Get rid of that faith, because a faith that can’t be tested is a faith that can’t be trusted. Real faith in a real God doesn’t grow weaker through difficulty; it only gets stronger. That is the kind of faith we need. There are tim...

Follow Jesus or Family Luke 14:26-27

Audio Luke 14:26-27 says that our commitment to Christ will reign over all things, even family. Living Bible VERSE26 “Anyone who wants to be my follower must love me far more than he does his own father, mother, wife, children, brothers, or  sisters—yes, more than his own life—otherwise he cannot be my disciple. VERSE 27 And no one can be my disciple who does not carry his own cross and follow me. Meaning that with respect to how much we love and work for God, it might even appear that we hate our family. Surely, we  aren't supposed to hate our families, but it shows how earnest we should be about following Christ and striving to be more like Him. W hen things become a distraction to our love for Christ, we are also called to cut those things away so that we might remain connected to Christ in heart and mind. First, we must take this verse in the context of the chapter. Jesus is teaching His disciples, and, like any good teacher, He gets His students thinking. It seems that, i...

Jesus is the Only Way – Do Christians Really Mean That?

Jesus is the Only Way – Do Christians Really Mean That? AUDIO Jesus is the Only Way – Do Christians Really Mean That? I read this back in 2019, and it seemed like a good day to share. It's always a good day to share God's Word.  Is Jesus the only way to God? "Jesus answered, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). "For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—His eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse" (Romans 1:20). Is Jesus the only way to God? For the person who begins to "get" Christianity, but has not yet become a Christian, the question often arises: "But, what about those who live in deep Africa or Tibet, or somewhere else, and have never heard of God? Do they go to hell, even if they are good people?" Do Christians really maintain that Jesus is the only way? J...

What is this “integrity”?

AUDIO  What is this “integrity”?  The word is used nearly 30 times in the Bible (mostly in the Psalms and Proverbs), and it is always given a good connotation. It means being consistent and uncompromising, adherence to a strict moral and ethical code, being honest and truthful and accurate in one’s actions. A person with integrity acts in accord with what they say they believe; they are not hypocrites. In Scripture, this character quality is equated with wisdom and contrasted with crookedness: “The integrity of the upright guides them, but the crookedness of the treacherous destroys them.” Jesus told his followers that they should be people of integrity, which means “undivided” and “a person of your word.” Today, we've become so used to fake news and to people saying whatever is going to make them look good that we might have forgotten what honest integrity looks like. It can be hard to trust people in a world like ours. Sometimes people try to convince others they can ...

I Have Some Good News and Some Bad News

AUDIO “I Have Some Good News and Some Bad News. . .” I am shocked that you are turning away so soon from God, who called you to himself through the loving mercy of Christ. You are following a different method that pretends to be the Good News but is not the Good News at all. You are being fooled by those who deliberately twist the truth concerning Christ. We have all heard good news/bad news jokes. Before we can fully appreciate the good news, we have to know the bad news. The literal definition of the gospel is good news. And before we can fully appreciate the good news of the gospel, we have to know the bad news. That means telling people they are sinners. Of course, people don’t like to hear that. I’m a what? I’m not a sin ner! I’m a good person! We have to define what it means to be a sinner, because the Bible says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Yet there are preachers today who don’t want to tell people they’re sinners. They claim th...

What does John 17:23 mean?

AUDIO What does John 17:23 mean?   For those who are not saved ( 1 Corinthians 2:14 ), the only way to "see" God and His influence is through the example of Christian believers ( Matthew 5:13–16 ). Jesus previously indicated that His actions demonstrated that He was sent by God ( John 14:11 , 31 ). The same is meant to be true of born-again believers ( John 17:21 ). Those who sincerely love God will obey God ( John 14:15 ), and that means showing Christian love for other believers ( Colossians 3:14 ). As much as Christians are obligated to rebuke those who teach false things ( Galatians 1:8 ; 1 Corinthians 5:11 ), there is also a command to be lovingly unified ( Romans 14:1 ). In this High Priestly Prayer ( John 17:1 ), it's important to note this emphasis. When Jesus began to pray specifically for those who would come to faith through the work of the apostles ( John 17:20 ), the main request He makes is for unity. While in other passages, Jesus is more direct about His...
