So Am I Hanging On By A Thread

So am I Hanging On By A Thread

If something is hanging by a thread, it usually denotes that it  is ready to fall apart or that the situation can change in an instant.  The phrase can be applied to physical things, situations, and ideas. The term hanging by a thread, derives from the banquet that King Dionysius held for Damocles, a courtier of ancient Syracuse. King Dionysius was beginning to become annoyed with Damocles' constant flattery of his king. He invited him to a banquet, where Damocles was seated under a sword suspended by a single hair. It was said to symbolize his tenuous position in the court. It was not only the sword that was hanging by a thread but also Damocles' life. This also gave rise to the idea that someone can have the sword of Damocles hanging over them, meaning they are in a very precarious situation.

I finally saw that the thread I needed to hang on to was

Faith…

Hebrews 11:1

Hebrews 11:6

Realize doubt can rob us of our faith and our future.

James 1:6-7

Trust that faith helps us heal, grow, and thrive in ways

we’ve never imagined.

2 Corinthians 12:9  Living Bible

Each time he said, “No. But I am with you; that is all you need. My power shows up best in weak people.” Now I am glad to boast about how weak I am; I am glad to be a living demonstration of Christ’s power, instead of showing off my own power and abilities.

Seeking God When You Are Tired, Weary, & Worn Out

“Lord, don’t you know that I’m tired?” This seems to be a constant phrase that rings through peoples minds. When your heart is pleading out to the Lord with this question, I mean tired emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and physically. Because all of me is tired.

So again can I take a shot in the dark for a moment and guess that you too are tired? Weary? Worn Out? Maybe even a little broken?

If so, you’re in good company. Scripture is filled with tired, weary, and worn out men and women that God strengthened to do amazing and extraordinary things. People like David, Ruth, Abraham, Moses, Paul, Job, and our sweet Savior, Jesus.

These giants of faith in Scripture are wonderful examples of not only what it means to be faithful in hard moments, but they teach us valuable lessons about what it looks like to seek God, even whenever we feel like we have nothing left inside of us to give.

So what exactly does seeking God look like when all of you is tired?

1. Take the first step; just show up

Don’t get me wrong, having a structured and consistent Bible study routine is right thing to do, DAILY.

But so often, when we are tired, weary, and worn out it is easy to get caught up in the logistics of what our time with the Lord “should” look like that we get so discouraged and don’t show up at all.

We are called to be obedient in showing up, spending time with Jesus, and studying the Word.

James 4:8

Some ideas for getting started when you’re tired, weary, and worn:
  • Take one verse at a time.

  • Find a something that host’s your favorite pastor and listen to a message I would suggest finding a daily Bible Study and when you need to read a chapter use an online study website that will read it to you so you can read and listen at the same time.

Again be vulnerable before the Lord just let it all and let it go out before him.

I don’t know about you, but when I am worn out it can feel like vulnerability takes A LOT of effort and there are times I just don’t want to be here anymore. Especially whenever my weary is as a result of pain or brokenness. During the most difficult days, weeks, and seasons of our lives it is much easier to retreat or become an introvert ourselves.  To truly seek God, we need to intentionally open up our hearts to let Him move however He wants to move.

Psalm 143 is a beautiful example of the way David exercised vulnerability before the Lord. He completely poured out His heart.
They say to Memorize and surround yourself with Scripture, for me memorizing not such much but I guess you would call it journaling or sharing what you read anyway possible like doing a blogger or build a website or use it on social media just get his word out there. Share God's Word

Meeting with God everyday is important, but seeking after God doesn’t end whenever we put our Bibles or Journals, away.

First and foremost God Knows You Are Tired.

This might seem really simple, but all too often, there are people who are walking around in shame and guilt over their weariness and  tiredness; their humanity. But I’ll let you in on a secret; God knows you are tired. I’ll go a step further and say that He knows you are tired because He created you. Every single fiber of your being, the way your DNA is structured. He is intimately acquainted with your weaknesses and limitations because you were handmade by God.

So today, if  you are letting shame and guilt over your wearinesses and weakness keep you from spending time in the Word or spending time with Jesus, then maybe it’s time to take that first step and simply show up in obedience. The beautiful thing I love about the Lord is He never leaves us in our weary.

Obedience is behavior that's respectful and mindful of rules and laws. I’m sorry but that is what I think holds a lot of people back from FULLY committing to God that they have to follow his rules and the BIBLE and not whatever they want to do.

My secret is simple.
 I pray.
 I “
Trust” God
 I
Trust Jesus
 I
Trust the Holy Spirit
 1 day at a time
Stay on the straight and narrow.

1 Thessalonians 4:11 (1 Thessalonians 4:11 advises believers to aspire to live quietly, mind their own affairs, and work with their hands, promoting a peaceful and responsible lifestyle. This guidance emphasizes the importance of personal responsibility and maintaining a good reputation among others.) THEN PRAY SOME-MORE.

AND LASTLY PRAY A LOT and CONTINUE TO READ YOUR BIBLE DAILY AND ALWAYS give all the glory to “GOD”.  I know this is rough sometimes and some days you think why am I still here but then hopefully you remember God has a plan for everyone and it might be worth sticking around to just see what he has in store for you next.  So the one thing to always remember is if you stick to the plan as they say and you know your Bible then you know the reward that waits for you. John 14:2  I would be happy with setting on a bench or a pup tent and to be able to hear those 4 words that every Christian wants to hear, “Well done, good and faithful servant,” from Jesus, first make sure you are saved. The unbelieving will never hear those words, for “without faith it is impossible to please God” (Hebrews 11:6). And recognize that Jesus is not only your Savior; He is also your Lord ( Luke 6:46). “Serve the LORD with gladness!” (Psalm 100:2,).

P.S. I checked out various websites to come up with this but you know this is my letter to God and ALL my trust is in him!

As you go forward walk with God and stay on the straight and narrow and as a friend likes to say “BE THE CHURCH”!
