Luke 22:28-30 Childlike Faith
Luke 22:28-30
07/22/2025
Lord our God, we thank you that we may be your children and that we may hope in your Spirit. Your Spirit rules us as people whom you want to draw to yourself, as people who may serve you in their lives here on earth. Grant that we may be childlike so that your Spirit can rule us more and more, and that what is good may come to many people in all places. May many come to know that their lives are not merely temporal, but that they can live and act in you, and through you, experience the good that is to come to all nations on earth. Amen.
So, more on being childlike refers to having a sense of wonder, trust, and simplicity in faith. Jesus taught that one must approach God with the innocence and openness of a child to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. This attitude encourages confidence in God's provision and a grateful heart for all that one receives. Of course, children are easily fooled and led astray. In their artlessness, they tend to miss the truth and be drawn to myths and fantasies. But that is not what is meant by having a childlike faith. Jesus promoted a humble, honest faith in God, and he used the innocence of a child as an example. Emulating the faith of children, we should simply take God at His word. As children trust their earthly fathers, we should trust that our "Father in heaven [will] give good gifts to those who ask him." People may fear childlike faith because it requires vulnerability, humility, and a willingness to trust without needing all the answers, which can feel uncomfortable in a world that often values certainty and control. Additionally, some may confuse childlike faith with childishness, associating it with naivete or irresponsibility.
So, trust God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.
