So Am I Hanging On By A Thread

So am I Hanging On By A Thread If something is hanging by a thread, it usually denotes that it  is ready to fall apart or that the situation can change in an instant.   The phrase can be applied to physical things, situations, and ideas. The term hanging by a thread, derives from the ba nquet that King Dionysius held for Damocles, a courtier of ancient Syracuse. King Dionysius was beginning to become annoyed with Damocles' constant flattery of his king. He invited him to a banquet, where Damocles was seated under a sword suspended by a single hair . It was said to symbolize his tenuous position in the court. It was not only the sword that was hanging by a thread but also Damocles' life. This also gave rise to the idea that someone can have the sword of Damocles hanging over them, mean ing they are in a very precarious situation.   I finally saw that the thread I needed to hang on to was Faith… Hebrews 11:1 Hebrews 11:6 Realize doubt can rob us of our faith and our future....

Pot Belly Stove (From A Shane Mullins Sermon)

T here was a little boy who walked home from Sunday school, and the family was sitting around the old potbelly stove talking. The boy told his dad and papa about the lesson. The boy was so excited. He told them he'd gone up to the altar and accepted Jesus as   his personal savior. The boy said he was going to live the rest of his life for Jesus. And the old grandpa said, grandson, it's impossible to live a life for Jesus. It's too hard. The boy lowered his head and sat in the corner. After a long silence, the la d came back and said, Papa, I'm going to live for Jesus for a year. The old man said, Boy, it's impossible. You can't do it. They went back in the corner. After weighing the situation, the grandson said, Papa, how about a month? Nope, you can't do that. The boy said, How about a week? No. A day? No. No. T he boy sat a long time and came back. Papa, can I live a moment for Jesus? The grandfather said, yes. Yes, you can. The boy j...

Don’t let compromise jeopardize your faith

There are times when compromise works well, and others when it doesn’t work at all. And in the Christian life, it can be tempting to look at what others believe and try to appease them by diluting your own faith.  But very seldom, if ever, does compromis e in areas of faith actually reach a satisfactory solution.   Don’t let compromise jeopardize your faith. Stay true to Scripture, and disagree agreeably with those who challenge you. Share the proven truth of the Bible with others, holding fast to your convictions, and praying God would work in their hearts. Romans 15:5

So who do you trust God or yourself with your life?

So, watching a show today about a gentleman, this was the last thing he wrote or posted before he passed away. It got me thinking that this could be applied to both men and women, in the paragraph below. It is easy to find fault in others and dispense blame. I believe it takes a true man to be able to look within themselves objectively and acknowledge his own mistakes and the part he played in the failure. In an effort to live by my own definition of a man, I attempt to do just that. Evan Tanner 2008 So who do you trust God or yourself with your life? Romans 12:2 Proverbs 16:3 Philippians 4:13 Joshua 1:9 2 Peter 3:18 Psalm 139:14 Ephesians 4:22-24 James 1:4 Matthew 5:48 The journey of personal growth and self-improvement is a deeply personal one, often filled with challenges and triumphs. In this journey, the wisdom found in the Bible serves as a guiding light, illuminating our path towards becoming better versions of ourselves. These Bible verses are not just ancient texts, but timel...
